Our History
In 2005, the first Hamilton FASD Initiative meeting was held.
In 2006, Catholic Family Services of Hamilton and Rygiel Supports for Community Living completed a funding request grant to the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The grant was received in 2007 to develop a multi-sector task force, build a body of research, and hire a program coordinator to raise awareness of FASD locally. This led to both agencies forming a partnership with other service providers to create the Hamilton FASD Community Initiative in 2008.
A second funding grant was received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2009, which allowed members to receive extensive FASD training. The Hamilton FASD Task Force was developed, and in 2012, the Hamilton FASD Leadership Team and Resource Team were officially created. The Hamilton FASD Resource Team developed the “FASD Foundations” training, and later the follow up training “Next Steps”.
In 2019, the name was formally changed to the Hamilton FASD Collaborative.
